Cleaning can be tedious, time consuming, costly and often harmful to the environment when using heavy detergents. Complete new from TOTO, Hydrotect works on a self-cleaning principle. When under ultraviolet (UV) exposure from sunlight or an illuminated light source (fluorescent lamps), a chemical reaction generates an active surface. Hydrotect’s active antimicrobial surface reduces global environmental pollutants such as Nitric Oxides and helps make cleaning easier.* 

Reducing Pollution the Natural Way

Coating hydrophilic titanium-dioxide surfaces with Hydrotect means that dirt and environmental grime can be washed away with a simple rinse. When Hydrotect tiles are used on building facades, rain water performs the rinse, lessening the need for polluting detergents and reducing the waste of potable water for cleaning.

TOTO engineers and scientists have also discovered that Hydrotect may even help to successfully reduce air pollution. The chemical reaction removes Nitrous and Sulfuric Oxide from the air. A 10,000 square-foot area of Hydrotect reduces the same amount of air pollution as 70 medium-size deciduous trees.*
