Designing a Socially Sustainable Bathroom:
AIA/CES qualified for HSW/SD credit. GBCI qualified. Also accepted by NKBA and NAHB
This course makes the case that Universal Design and Environmentally Sustainable Design should be merged into Socially Sustainable Design and become part of the best practices used in all good design. It focuses on the designing of bathrooms or rest rooms that will not only be friendly and accessible to all but represent the state of the art in water efficiency and disease free surfaces. The resulting bathroom needs to provide comfort and facility for allowing the resident to meet their goal of aging in place while preserving health, independence and dignity. The attendee also will receive information on tools which reduce design time and help meet the criteria for LEED certification.
