TOTO Engineers Develop a Way to Keep Your Toilet Bowl Cleaner Longer

Cleaning the toilet bowl is no fun, right? That’s because at the microscopic level, porcelain, like your toilet’s bowl, is a series of ridges, valleys, and crevices to which waste can easily stick. TOTO wanted to find a way to help keep your toilet bowl cleaner longer. 

To do this, we developed a nano-technology glaze called CEFIONTECT. This ultra-smooth ceramic glaze is baked in during the manufacturing process, not painted on. It seals the porcelain with an ionized barrier that creates a super-slippery, non-porous surface. Think back to your summers jamming down the slides at the local water park.

When protected with CEFIONTECT, waste has nowhere to cling. Instead, it slides off the bowl’s surface and is carried away when you flush.

Cleaning the bowl less frequently not only saves you time, but it also means fewer harsh cleaning chemicals released into the environment and saves the water you would have used for cleaning. That’s a win-win!
