The environment is another of our vision’s three global themes. For this theme, we have established the following goals:
• “protecting our limited water resources and connecting with the future,”
• “undertaking initiatives to fight global warming and coexist sustainably with the earth,” and
• “working to generate sustainable development together with local communities,”
TOTO is engaging in various efforts to realize these goals. For example, we are working to:
• “alleviate water stress through the widespread adoption of water-saving products,”
• “achieve carbon neutrality,” and
• “conduct social contribution activities in local communities.”
By protecting the environment through our business activities, we will contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. |

We have been working to reduce the amount of water needed to flush our toilets while effectively removing waste and ensuring the toilets remain pleasant to use. In the current NEOREST Series, we created a toilet that consumes a mere 1 gallon (3.8L) of water per flush.
In addition, we are striving to improve our showers and faucets’ water-conserving capability without sacrificing performance.
The TOTO Group recognizes the impact of climate change as a business risk. We strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions based on scientific principles consistent with the Paris Climate Agreement to realize a carbon-neutral and sustainable society. On average, our products are used over a 20-year period. If we look at this over a product’s entire life cycle, this means that a product’s use phase accounts for over 90% of TOTO’s overall CO2 emissions. By actively reducing emissions in this life cycle stage, we aim to help consumers enjoy both comfortable and eco-friendly everyday lifestyles.
Regarding CO2 emissions from our business activities, TOTO is promoting CO2 reduction plans that take into account global climate change analyses by 2050 and our long-term business growth by 2030. Under these plans, we are actively introducing renewable energy sources on a TOTO Group-wide basis.

To develop sustainable local communities and a global society that uses water effectively now and in the future, both corporations’ business activities and local communities’ civic initiatives are essential.
To that end, we established the TOTO Water Environment Fund to support the activities that work to preserve the global environment and create clean, comfortable living environments. Through this fund and other measures, TOTO contributes to local communities’ issues resolution and sustainable development.
